Hi I‘m Karl.
I have a long history in the wider transport sector, which started with many years of being a pilot. More recently my experiences have been on the road and at the wheel in various capacities.

A driver license testing officer
I worked as a testing officer contracted to NZTA, taking people out for their practical driving tests to assess competency behind the wheel, against the National standards. As you would expect I know exactly what’s needed to pass a test, and all the areas where drivers commonly fail. When you do your driving lessons with me, I use that knowledge to give you the very best chance of passing your test the first time.
Driving heavy vehicles
For many years I drove fuel tankers around the lower North Island. I saw first-hand, the best and the worst of New Zealand driving. My experiences during that period have had a lasting impact on me and is a big part of my commitment to improving the skill level and safety of as many New Zealand drivers as possible.
Driving trucks for a living gave me real experience and insight into the advanced level of skills required of a professional heavy vehicle driver. My heavy vehicles driving lessons are focussed on passing this onto the transport sector’s future drivers.
Kart driving
With a number of national kart racing titles, I have spent years honing my competitive, high-performance driving. I also work with young, up-and-coming kart racers, helping them improve their driving skills and performance. The driving skills and techniques of racing might not relate directly to you doing a car lesson with me, but how I teach them does.

A husband and father
My family are a big part of my approach to taking you for driving lessons and helping you get your license. My time as a professional driver on New Zealand’s roads has convinced me of the need for new drivers to be better educated on how to be safer drivers. Improving the skills of all the drivers on our roads means that everyone, including my family and I are safer wherever we go.
