Heavy Vehicle Driving Lessons

Driving medium and heavy vehicles safely and competently requires a very different skillset to driving smaller passenger vehicles. From learning to drive a smaller truck or bus and getting your Class 2 license, right through to an experienced commercial driver looking to move up to a Class 4 license or Class 5 licence, my driving lessons are designed to make things easy for you.

Lessons built from practical heavy vehicle experience

With years spent driving fuel tankers, I am able to share my extensive heavy vehicle experience with you. I will use this to teach you the extra things you need to know to be the safest driver possible.

The vehicles I can help you learn to drive include:

  • Class 2 – medium rigid vehicles
  • Class 4 – heavy rigid vehicles
  • Class 5 – heavy combination vehicles

From beginner lessons to advanced skills

From the basics of the gears and brakes, and how to compensate for the extra width, length and wider turning circles of bigger vehicles, through to the techniques for reversing articulated trucks, I can take you through it step by step, and help you master it all.

Starting in quieter areas with less traffic, wider roads and places suitable for practising parking, we progress to driving in traffic and on narrower streets as your vehicle handling skills increase and confidence grows.

Lesson vehicles

For any Class 2 to Class 5 licence lessons, you need a suitable vehicle to do your lessons in. If you are getting your medium or heavy license as part of your employment, your employee might be able to make a vehicle available for you to do your lessons in. If this isn’t an option, then contact us and we can help you find and hire a suitable vehicle to do your lessons in.
